I'm not going to argue with you on here. It's clear what the facts are, look how many Northerners live in the South but yet you feel the need to make fun of our talk and beliefs? The only thing I can say is.....The roads back to the north are always open, if you don't like the southern ways, go back to Yankeeville, USA!

Flags are important. I saw a list on the internet (can't remember where) that contained the 100 greatest inventions. The concept of flags was high up on the list. As far as government censorship is concerned, although they have done it, it's a freedom of speach issue and subject to Constitutional arguments. But where there are conflicts, we may need to compromise our ideals if there is some overriding factor like peace.

hmmmm... funny how something as simple as a flag can bring out such strong emotions in people.... and give people a chance to show how uneducated they are
i myself am strongly against censorship of any kind so telling someone what flag they fly in their front yard just rubs me wrong...
i mean yeah sure the confederate flag can be misconstrued as a symbol of hatred, and sure i guess the govt. can censor it, but then i think it was hitler that showed how well censorship works...
as far as most southerners not driving anything decent... uhmmm ever stopped to consider that maybe most southerners are content with what they have?
think about it... if you worry about getting the most uppity jag or beamer you are spending way to much time thinking about what others think about you
anyhow i tend to ramble on

Yes, the Civil War was fought over State’s Rights, not slavery. In fact, Abraham Lincoln said at the start of the war that he had “no purpose to interfere with slavery in the states where it existed.” The central issue was whether this country could survive in the world as independent states or if predominant central government was essential. During the war, slavery became an issue.

In 1860, there were nearly thirty two million people in this country, four million of them slaves. Although the majority of people in the South did not own slaves, they were convinced by slaveholders that the South’s economy would collapse without slavery. Indeed, it was a labor intensive, agricultural based economy that depended on low cost workers. Meanwhile, the North’s economic growth was concentrated on manufacturing which, with the invention of machinery, was becoming less dependent on cheap human labor.

The United States of America has come a long way since the Civil War and many Americans stemmed from immigrants from other places after that time in our history. I believe that most of us, North and South, are appalled by the concept of one human being owning another. The “Battle Flags of the Confederacy”, and there are at least thirty types, stand for a proud time in Southern culture. They were carried into battle by Confederate Soldiers who gave their lives for the privilege. Unfortunately, some of these flags have since been dragged through the mud by individuals committing heinous acts. Individuals who know nothing about the history of Southern culture.

Now that I know ethnocentrism in any form is offensive to many, I have removed my Fairfield Glade license plate as well as a “Swedish American” license plate holder given me by a dear departed aunt so many years ago. But they are drops in the bucket compared to the importance of whether to fly the Confederate Flag. This is a complicated issue and I hope there will eventually be a solution to the problem. It will probably require compromise on both sides. Although I had intended to spend the rest of my life here, I now plan to leave at some point if at all possible. I will spend my remaining years in a place where I am respected for who I am rather than where I was born.

Curious, how Fairfield Glade gets picked on during these displays of anger. Here's a fact for all you statisticians out there. The greatest number of FFG owners come from Tennessee.

Just for the record I am from the north. And did not come down here to impose my way of life on those from the south. I came here to get away from all the back stabbing and lieing that goes on up there. Every one in a hurry to go no where. I think those from the southern state's should be allowed to show there state history and if it bothers you get the h--- out. No one stops the Germans or the Japanese from flying there flags here and they have opressed more people all over the world. And along those lines, it really p----- me off to have some a--, burning a flag of the USA. Many people died so that that flag can fly over this country and not that of some other country on our soil. Moved to the South and glad of it, wish I had been born here.

Yes Blinded!I received a momentary lapse of vision while driving on Peavine road from the sun emblem on a Fairfield liscense plate.
Have any other Southerners experienced this?
These plates seem to have no affect on Northern drivers since they are accostomed to the glare of snow while driving. A group now exists for you called S.A.P.Southernors Against Plateglare and we can help!We are starting a drive in the South, which approved by various legislatures would require Fair Field Resorts across the South to change there famous logo so much adored by Northerners for whom it has become a symbol of heritage. We can stop them NOW! Call today 1-800 my bleeding heart.May the stars and bars wave forever!!!!!

I guess they can't make payments on the plate and the Jag too.The Fairfield plates come with the membership free which is the way most Northerners expect things should be.
Who oppresses more people today those in luxury cars or those with Confederate Flag license plates? I bet you came from a rich state up North that built those pickups, shame on you.....

If you want particulars,Tennessee's own state flag bears the resemblance to a Confederate Battle flag used more commonly than the Saint Andrews Cross the (new Southerners) are trying to take down. Many other states also have flags that were battle emblems during the war such as Virginia and North Carolina. Are they bad too?
I guess our new neighbors who have refugeed to the South want us to put a pelican or a symbol of royalty on our flags like they have up North.Sorry folks but to many of us have ancestors who fought for what they believed in.Many of you from the North embrace fond memories of the American flag and what it meant during the 2nd World War.Your Northern states flurished during that time with a manufacturing empire unlike any thing the world has ever seen.(Of course this was began by working little children 16 hours a day under slave like conditions)Yes we in the South had that same flag fying over our Post Office but I don't think we have the same eye for it that you have. Are we proud to be Americans in the South?Yes.Do we believe in the constitution?Yes.Do we have the same view of Independence? No.Most people in the South are still against centralized government, believing a state can and should take care of its own people based on the way the people of that state live. The Confederate flags,ALL of them, represent that spirit of Independence to us in a way.To take away the right of a state to show this tears at the very heart of the Southern view of Independence and revives anamosity that goes back far past the Civil War and is kin to what goes on between Ireland and England today.Who are the trouble makers causing the stir?Who is profiting from the anger caused by the removal of these symbols?Maybe these questions should be asked and answered by all AMERICANS before another flag comes down.Who knows, the stars and stripes could be next.I have six ancestors who fought for Southern rights from East Tennessee. It is my belief as a FREE man in a FREE country that the flag can and should be flown at any event in the South, from state fairs to Fourth of July celebrations. As a FREE American I will fly any of the many versions of it I choose!!!!!!

Dear Yankee,Yes you may have won the war but you still don't know your history. If you will look in your history books, any of them, the flag did not stand for slavery. The particular flag you are talking about did not even come into the Civil War until close to the end of the war.Maybe because it colors are so dramatic,it was picked as favorite for people to associate with the Civil War.But there are many flags associted with the Civil War,in fact each state or each regiment had there own flag.So you see there were many. And if you also look in that history book you will discover that the Civil War was started not because of slavery but because of states rights. The North wanted a goverment to rule over all the states and the southern states wanted to be able to govern themselves and not be told what to do.Slavery was not even a issue until the middle of the war, until it was half over.I am not saying slavery was right but it did happen. But I am saying that the war was not fought based purely on slavery. So there you go Yankee, you may have won the war but you sure haven't learned anything have you?If I can say anything about the South it is that they may have lost the Civil War but they recovered and came back stronger than ever.To the point that now everyone would rather live here than up North. So really what did you win?Everybody up North thinks the South is a better place to live.Looks like we have lost again, everyone has discovered our secret that the South (no matter what) is still the best place on this earth to live! But now that I have gave you a little history lesson, lets not point fingers or call each other names,if we want to keep a flag up as part of our heritage what is it hurting. It is hurting no one.The sad thing is the very same people who want this flag pulled down would have no problem with burning the American flag. What has happen to everyone? Is this what we have come to,petty quarrels over flags, that because you can't educate yourselves about them think all they represent is hate. What about the lives that died for each flag including the American Flag. There was blood shed of white men and black men for the very flag you want to take down.Is that shocking, there were many black men who fought for the south because they knew what they were fighting for.So what would these men(black and white) say if you ask them what they thought about tearing down a symbol of what they fought and died for.Think about that before you brand it a symbol of slavery and racism.I agree there are some people out there who are using it the wrong way but there are people out there who think of it in a good way as just part of their heritage.Maybe if a lot of us felt more pride in our heritage this world would not be in the shape it is in today. We would want to make our family proud and be proud of them.Where has that pride gone? That is all that flag represents. Not hate,it doesn't have to,people have branded that in their minds that it is a symbol of hate. It's not,it may be used by ignorant people to show their hate. But ignorance should not breed more ignorance. If it were shown more as a symbol of heritage of the men who fought and died for it,these other people would not want to use it anymore.Sorry I went on but I hope you got my point anyway.
